On March 14, Concord Music Publishing also announced a new sub-publishing deal with Paris-based independent music company Because Editions covering catalog in the United States and United Kingdom. Conford began administering the catalog in 2013. It includes songs by artists Christine & The Queens, Daft Punk, Manu Chao, Justice, among others, as well as the iconic composition "My Way."
The arrangement is also reciprocated in France, where Because has sub-published much of the Concord Music Publishing catalog since 2008.
"Because have such a varied and eclectic catalogue, we are delighted to extend our remit from the UK to now include the US in what is a very exciting time for both Concord and Because," said Kim Frankiewicz, executive vp of worldwide creative at Concord Music Publishing. Spirit Music Group has signed global publishing deal with songwriter and producer Gregg Wattenberg for his catalog, including songs recorded by Train (“If It’s Love”), Goo Goo Dolls (“Let Love In”), Phillip Phillips (“Gone, Gone, Gone” and “Raging Fire”), Five for Fighting (“Chances”) and more.
As part of the multi-faceted deal, Spirit Music Group will acquire the complete catalog of songs Wattenberg wrote under Sony/EMI, where Sony or the respective admin will still retain administration, while Spirit becomes the copyright owner. The company also acquired Wattenberg's publishing interest on songs he wrote for the WWE prior to Jan. 1, 2018, and songs that Wattenberg had publishing in from his Arcade Songs catalog. Spirit now admins the songs that Wattenberg has written that he self-publishes, Spirit co-publishes future works that Wattenberg writes, and Spirit and Wattenberg will co-publish anything signed under the new joint venture partnership.
“I have known Gregg for twenty years, dating back to our days at Island Records — we always knew that we would be working together again one day,” said Jon Singer, chairman of Spirit Music Group. “The timing is right and the team at Spirit is honored to represent and partner with such an accomplished songwriter and producer. This is a multi-faceted deal that not only allows Spirit to represent Gregg as a songwriter, but a partnership to identify and nurture new talent together. This is an exciting time for Spirit Music Group — we’re just getting started.”

The deal has already resulted in a prime placement of Mineo’s “I Ain’t Done” in the recent Under Armour campaign for Steph Curry’s new sneakers.
“Andy Mineo is a world class rapper, performer, hook writer and a true creator,” said Position Music’s president and CEO Tyler Bacon. “We are thrilled to be a part of his team."
